Tried and True

Just like every other woman out there, I have been on the quest for the perfect foundation. Sales show that once someone finds that perfect foundation that they stick to it. It's the number one makeup item that women are loyal to! I have definitely tried my fair share and have narrowed it down to my top 5!

In no particular order here's why I like them and what specific occasion I use them for.

1. Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup

It's very lightweight, gives a natural satin like finish with a light to medium coverage. I definitely pick this up during the day when I go somewhere other than running errands. It helps me be photo ready so it's great for activities like wine tasting or downtown shopping.

2. Makeup For Ever HD Invisible Coverage Foundation

This is the foundation that I like to use when I do weddings. It's a lightweight feel and looks like skin but better! It makes you look so even and is a great foundation to create a flawless canvas. It looks amazing on camera, you don't have that noticeable line of foundation - where your head is lighter than your body. It's very buildable so you can start off with a sheer layer, then add another if you want something more. If I have a special occasion you better believe this is the foundation that is on me.

3. Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

Whenever I get bored with my Urban Decay Naked Foundation I put on this guy right here. It gives such a luminous look, an instant glow but no noticeable shine or shimmer.  A little bit goes a long way, all you need it 2-3 drops for the whole face. It dries down nicely so you don't even need a setting powder. I tend to be on the oilier side so I just dust some bareMinerals Mineral Veil on the top, then I'm ready to go. I usually use this during the day when I have somewhere nice to go and also when I know I will be out all day long because it lasts!

4. bareMinerals Blemish Remedy Foundation

This right here has honestly has changed my skin! I used to get those "time of the month" cystic zits that would last for about a month, then as the next month approached I would get it in another location just a millimeter away from the last place. So, basically had them ALL THE TIME. After using this I want to say that it not only helps clear a breakout but I definitely don't get them as much as I used to. Instead of getting 5 a month I maybe get 1 and for only a week vs 4 weeks! It has a very light but buildable coverage and is completely matte, which I like! It is like their Matte Foundation but with more coverage and skin clearing benefits. For extra coverage I layer it on top of the next guy that I am going to talk about. This is my everyday, work day foundation.

5. Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30

I feel like I've tried every BB, CC and Tinted Moisturizer out there but I keep going back to this one - it smells good, doesn't feel too tacky, and has a high amount of SPF. This has a medium coverage, for a tinted moisturizer and is so easy to apply. The best way to apply this is with my fingertips and if I'm feeling dry I will add it over a moisturizer but if I'm feeling oily I apply it on its own. I always finish it off with the bareMinerals Blemish Remedy Foundation and/ or Mineral Veil.

February Favorites

It's that time of month again, where I rally up my favorite things and share them with all of you. Here are the items that I have been grabbing for at least every day.

1. Limecrime Eyeshadow Brightener - Goes on white so that every eyeshadow that is placed on top of it is its true color.

2. Anastasia Liquid Lipstick in Pure Hollywood - Sorry it's sold out but it's because it's that good. An everyday lipstick that lasts!

3. Beauty Blender Solid - A cleaner not only for your beauty blender but for your brushes as well. Conditions and cleans!

4. Naked Concealer - An undereye concealer that covers so much, yet is so smooth.

5. Formula X Nail Polish in Continuum - Hello Spring! My favorite nail polish that doesn't chip is here!

6. Morphe Brush in M441 - Whether you want a blended crease or cut crease this is your guy!

7. Ardency Inn MODSTER Smooth Ride Supercharged Eyeliner in Black - Recommended by Jaclyn Hill and now I know why, the only liner that stays in my waterline, that's why!

Colourpop Buzz

Lately every blog, YouTube video and IG post I had seen was about this brand that I knew nothing about, Colourpop Cosmetics. So naturally, because I am so easily persuaded to buy anything, I googled their site. To my surprise, almost EVERYTHING was $5! Then I needed everything! I only had about 20 minutes to look before I had to meet up with my friends so I was only able to buy 8 items. Let me tell you, it was so rough to narrow it down to just 8! Every color was so pretty and I could think of a million ways to wear each one.

I was very impressed with the product, for $5 it definitely wasn't a "you get what you pay for" experience, it was more! I felt that the Lippy Stix were non-drying, even in the matte finish and the glossy finish felt like butter on my lips, I didn't even have to top it off with a lipgloss (which is what I usually do). The Super Shock Shadows were a unique cream to powder finish that lasted all day long with intense shimmer and a huge pop of color. They were so easy to apply, my favorite way was to take my finger and pop them on my lid.

Check out what I got, with a few swatches!

Get the Look - Valentine's Day Night

Valentine's day deserves two looks, don't you agree? One where you can sport your red lip and the other where you can wear a hot smoky eye with some sexy lashes! So now that I have shared my day look with you all, here's my night look and how to get it! Click the products below to shop.

Get the Look - Valentine's Day Look

Valentine's Day is a great excuse to wear red lipstick especially if you don't regularly wear it. I definitely do not frequent red lips so as soon as the day came I brought out that bad boy real quick! I went with Limecrime's Velvetine in Wicked, let me tell you - as soon as it sets it's not going anywhere! It lasted me until 5pm that afternoon, through lunch, kisses and all!

Oldie but a Goodie

I started my makeup career at MAC Cosmetics, a brand that I have loved and respected ever since I could remember. To this day (and on) I will forever be a MAC GIRL! So the other day, as I was planning my makeup look I opened up an old MAC palette and was reunited with one of my old favorites, Antiqued. I just love everything about this shade, not only is it a natural shimmer brown but it has the perfect amount of red that looks good on all skin tones, and adds a nice pop so it doesn't look like your boring traditional brown.

Take a look below to see what else I paired it with.

Eyes: In addition to MAC Antiqued, Makeup Geek Shadows in Mocha and Peach Smoothie, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper Face: Blemish Remedy Foundation and Nars Orgasm Blush Lips: MAC Buerre Lip Liner and Buxom Lip Foundation in Nude

V-Day Lip Looks

With Valentine's Day around the corner it's only natural to start planning your look for the biggest date night of the year! The makeup look is just as important as the outfit, if anything it ties it all together and tells the story of what you are going for.

Here are some non-traditional lip looks for you to try. Pair them with a natural eye or go bold with a smoky eye. In makeup there are no rules as long as you feel pretty!

So, in the start of February (just a little after the new year), may I present to you, the new and improved Lip Service Makeup! With blog and all...
